THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, planning, and reporting functions of the company. As a key leader in the finance department, this position will report directly to the COO and will be tasked with building and leading a high-performing finance team. The primary goal of this position is to enhance the company's financial performance by providing strategic financial insights, driving profitability, and implementing strong internal controls and risk management practices. The Director of Finance will collaborate closely with various departments, including Supply Chain, Logistics, and Warehousing, to ensure alignment between financial strategies and business objectives.
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
SUPERVISES: the Finance and accounting team
INTERFACES: All department managers and employees of the company, executive team including the CEO, and outside professionals such as auditors, insurance brokers and agents, banking representatives, tax agencies and other professionals.
COMPENSATION: Salary (Exempt Status) and Performance Bonus

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education and Experience: • A current Certified Public Accountant (CPA). • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, in accounting, finance or relevant field. • 10 years related experience in accounting and 5+ years in a Controller/Manager or higher role. • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws • Food Industry experience preferred, in manufacturing, consumer goods, wholesale distribution, and/or grocery. • Excellent GAAP and financial reporting skills (exposure to IFRS is a plus) Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training: • History of working collaboratively with others to achieve desired results. • Public Accounting background is desirable. • Capacity to influence, obtain buy-in and interact at senior levels. • Ability to communicate clearly and directly, using emotional intelligence. • Ability to think outside of the box and adapt to changing priorities. • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. • Proficiency using Microsoft 365. • Excellent knowledge of Excel and technology in general. • Ability to research/implement new technical accounting pronouncements. • Ability to analyze and determine the suitability of financial hardware and software to support various accounting related business processes and well-versed in ERP and Microsoft Power BI (Business Central or comparable software). • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Language and Communication Skills: • Demonstrate credibility, confidentiality, and high ethical standards. • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner. • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities. • Ability to effectively present information to management, boards of directors, banks. Physical, sensory, and motor demands: • Occasional driving to warehouses may be required, frequent standing and sitting. Intermittent squatting, bending, twisting, lifting. This position requires excellent visual acuity and auditory sense. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
