Job Description

Extension is seeking a Director of Finance for a direct hire opportunity with a mission-driven organization located in St. Francis, WI.

Key Objectives / Role Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day accounting, billing, and financial operations
  • Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic planning
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and manage all internal/external reporting requirements
  • Serve as primary liaison for annual external audit and tax filings
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
  • Supervise and mentor the Accounting Manager, supporting performance and process improvement
  • Partner with leadership and attend Board Finance Committee meetings as needed


Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • CPA required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required (MBA preferred)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting or financial leadership experience
  • Strong background in GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and audits
  • Experience with payroll, A/P, A/R, and nonprofit or social service environments preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office, accounting systems (QuickBooks preferred), and billing/EHR systems a plus
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently


Salary Information

  • $100k - $120k/year
