Jupiter Island Club is seeking a Director of Human Resources, with a strategic and engaging professional style, to partner with the General Manager in providing a culture of high standards and excellence. The Human Resources Director is uniquely positioned to work closely with all aspects of the Club’s operational and leadership team. This position is an executive member position and will provide strategic positioning and direction as well as execute all initiatives related to the employee experience. Acting as a strategic business partner within the organization, the ideal candidate for this position will effectively balance the needs of the employees with the needs of the organization and continue to elevate the Club’s strong culture of teamwork and commitment to excellence.

This position will report directly to the General Manager / COO and provide Human Resources expertise to the Club’s Compensation Committee, the Board, the Executive Committee of the Board, and the Finance Committee

Key success factors:

• Achieve tangible results and strive in a partnership with the GM to cultivate an environment that maintains the Club’s position as an employer of choice.

• High degree of strategic focus and expertise in Human Resources

• Focus on labor market dynamics and able to attract and retain talent while managing succession planning.

• Hands-on leadership approach in executing key initiatives with the operational team. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about taking care of people and will take pride in representing Jupiter Island Club and shaping its employee experience.

• Ability to work closely with and present to the Board, Executive Team on the Board, Compensation Committee and Finance Committee

• Highest of ethical standards

Responsible for short- and long-term planning and management of the Human Resources function, working closely with the HR generalist and the Payroll and Benefits administrator. Major areas of responsibility/ management include, but are not limited to recruitment, compensation and benefits, training, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development. Work closely with the General Manager, the Board and several Committees in implementing, achieving, and maintaining the Club’s goals and objectives.
 

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

• Must adhere to Jupiter Island Club code of Professional conduct and embody leadership qualities

• Excellent people skills, customer focus, team-driven professional style

• Ability to work independently and as part of the team, and serve as an advisor and trusted confidant to the leadership team of the Club

• Organizational champion, adaptable to changing needs of members and staff, able to deliver best-in-class HR service experience in support of all aspects of Club operations

• A strong team player, with the ability to drive consensus, lead and support organizational change initiatives

• Ability to manage sensitive/confidential matters.

• Other workstyle and personal competencies: analytical, multi-tasking, negotiating skills, ownership & accountability, adaptability & flexibility, influencing skills, capacity to lead others through change and transition

• Ability to travel for recruitment purposes and other HR related reasons.
 

JOB QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

The following describes the general qualifications and physical, sensory, and mental abilities normally associated with performing the essential functions of this position.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related field

• Human Resources Certification preferred (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) or Master of Science in related field.

•Minimum three years’ experience leading a Human Resources function and managing staff.

•Prior experience in golf clubs, social clubs, hotels, or related industries a plus

•Strong working knowledge of the following HR specialties: HR operations, talent acquisition, foreign labor visa process (H2B Visas in particular), compensation, benefits, organizational development

• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing equal employment opportunity, occupational safety and health, workers’ compensation, wage, and hour issues, as well as COVID-19 employment related laws and programs

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Track record of working collaboratively with others to achieve desired results.

•Capacity to influence, obtain buy-in and interact at senior levels

• Ability to communicate clearly and directly, using emotional intelligence.

• Expertise in dealing with both permanent and seasonal employees and prior experience sourcing and managing H2B / J1 Visa programs preferred.

• Experience managing internal relationships (development and collaboration to mediation and conflict resolution)

• Ability to think outside of the box and adapt to changing priorities

• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations

• Proficiency using Microsoft 365

• Analytical skills with demonstrated ability to run reports and translate data to insight and then into action.

• Well versed in Human Resources / Payroll information system (ADP or comparable HRIS)

Language and Communication Skills:

• Must possess strong verbal and written communication and listening skills

• Versatile and able to quickly establish positive rapport with members and employees alike, to create a friendly and professional atmosphere.

• Fluency in Spanish, verbal and written – desirable ·

Physical, sensory, and motor demands:

•Occasional driving and walking on club premises, frequent standing and sitting. Intermittent squatting, bending, twisting, lifting. This position requires excellent visual acuity and auditory sense. May require occasional travelling off site for recruitment purposes.
