We are seeking a Director for Local Public Health Data Strategy to be at the forefront of transforming public health practice through data-driven insights. This position requires partnership with the Executive Director, board members, the Policy Director, and the broad network of the Colorado Association of Local Public Health Officials (CALPHO) to develop and advance a strategic roadmap specifically designed to enhance the data capabilities of Colorados Local Public Health Agencies (LPHAs), ensuring alignment with state and national initiatives aimed at modernizing public health data systems.

You will lead the development and execution of a cohesive and actionable strategy for LPHAs, emphasizing:

  • Enhancement of data reporting, management, and analytical capabilities.
  • Cultivation of a data-savvy public health workforce.
  • Advocacy for systemic improvements benefiting LPHAs.

You will ensure that LPHAs are moving together to modernize under a common framework for providing data and the access to that data in ways that work for all public health. You will provide capacity building and technical support for LPHAs in the areas of public health data modernization and informatics, health system partnerships, and public health agency research and community health assessments. You'll also offer direct technical assistance, expertise, and coordinate LPHA efforts, working in tandem with stakeholders across various sectors to promote policy and practice changes essential for the broad uptake of best practices in public health data usage.

As the Director your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop Local Public Health Data Strategy: Craft a local public health data strategy to enhance the efficiency of data sharing, systems, and sources.
  • Establish and Lead Data Working Groups: Facilitate data working groups to design and implement data modernization strategies, promoting collaborative problem-solving.
  • Foster Collaborative Relationships: Promote and support collaborative relationships to advance common data strategies and interoperability solutions, emphasizing team and partner engagement.
  • Integrate Data Across Agencies: Assess data needs within and across LPHAs to identify integration opportunities and improve efficiencies.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Develop partnerships to align data modernization efforts with national standards, ensuring consistency and collaboration.
  • Standardize Data Management Practices: Plan and implement statewide strategies for data management, file storage, data release, and cataloging.
  • Provide Technical and Strategic Assistance: Offer direct technical assistance, expertise, and strategic support to local public health agencies.
  • Oversee Development of Resources: Supervise the development of issue briefs, reports, toolkits, and other resources for use by LPHAs.
  • Enhance LPHA Capacity and Resource Sharing: Provide capacity-building assistance, develop tools, and facilitate information exchange and learning in collaboration with partners.
  • Maintain and Establish External Partnerships: Build and sustain relationships with organizations like NACCHO, CDC, APHL, and CSTE.
