Job Title: Director of Manufacturing Operations JARC RI
Program(s): Careers in Manufacturing Programs (CMP) and Business & Workforce Services (BWS)
Reports To: Site Director JARC RI
Supervises: Technical Training Instructors (including CNC, Additive Mfg, Robotics, Mfg Bridge Program) and Job Developer
The Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC) promotes strong communities, businesses and households to ensure that people who work do not live in poverty. JARC RI is a partnership between JARC and Polaris MEP.
JARC helps low-income workers, job seekers and community residents attain financial self-sufficiency through skills training and support services. JARCs training programs target middle skills gaps in the manufacturing sector, such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machinist, additive manufacturing and robotics, and serve a variety of populations:
Careers in Manufacturing Programs Provide job training and employment services to a variety of adult job seekers, including dislocated workers and job seekers with barriers to employment.
Business and Workforce Services Design and execute customized firm side training classes for industry employer partners and their incumbent workers.
The Director of Manufacturing Programs supports these programs and strategies through leadership of the technical training faculty, management of JARCs training facilities, and stewardship of manufacturing partnerships.
Essential Functions:
Careers in Manufacturing Programs (CMP)
Oversees all aspects of technical training and industry certifications in JARCs job training programs
Ensures the execution of JARCs curricula, program design and safety protocols for the Careers in Manufacturing Programs, including CNC, Additive Mfg, Robotics and Mfg Bridge
Executes JARC Best Practices, including: Open Entry / Open Exit, Simulated Work Environment, and Use of Industry Credentials
Supervises and develop technical training instructors and job developer; provide technical support and industry expertise
Conducts outreach with companies to facilitate employer engagement and hiring of JARC graduates; build firm side partnerships Interface with partners to ensure building maintenance, security and safety
Business and Workforce Services (BWS)
Designs and executes customized worker training classes; adapt existing curricula and course outlines to align with customer goals
Develops customer-focused programming; understands customers business model and business goals, manufacturing processes and technology, job functions, career paths, and skills gaps
Uses JARC Diagnostic Tools including Manufacturing Skills Assessment (MSA)and Skills Inventories (SI) to verify and benchmark competencies
Markets incumbent worker training classes; prepares service agreements
Writes reports; meets with company to debrief on training classes and identify next steps
Helps employers develop Career Path Plans using JARC model, blending coursework, hands-on competencies and relevant industry credentials
Operations
Manages the budget of training operations, submit purchase requests to and notify Site Director with monthly budget updates
Provides technical support for training center including equipment, IT and site maintenance Secures quotes and prepare PO materials, supplies and equipment for the training center
Other duties as assigned
Team Functions:
Participates on Management Team
Contributes to agencys continuous quality improvement efforts
Collaborates and cultivates strong working relationship with all staff, including JARC Chicago and JARC Baltimore
Ensures development opportunities and coaching to help team members develop professionally; includes completing performance evaluations according to review schedule.
Contributes to JARCs warm and welcoming environment
Models safety on the shop floor
Qualifications:
Minimum Of 10 Years Of Manufacturing Experience
Must be dedicated to JARCs mission of moving individuals and families out of poverty through a combination of skills training and support services
Must have experience programming, setting up and operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines Must have knowledge of shop safety and machine tools
Must be fluent in shop math, print reading and metrology
Minimum of 5 years of teaching (on-the-job teaching is accepted) or supervisory experience
Ability to execute competency-based learning and the use of industry skill standards and certifications
Must be able to train other teachers in the use of curriculum and in project-based learning
Must be a team player, willing and able to train other teachers, work with employer partners and other training organizations
Bilingual a plus

Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 at Full Time
