Description of Work UnitThis position is within the Vice President of University Operations Division and will provide marketing and communications outreach to over 7,000 employees and 28,000 student commuters at our campuses in Fort Collins, Colorado. Vice President of University Operations (VPUO) is responsible for the oversight of many diverse operational departments at Colorado State University that require communication across multiple audiences. There is a need for routine communication of operating and financial priorities across campus including the new budget model, the annual budget process and operating priorities like emergencies, maintenance priorities and the annual capital budget. This position will also provide internal employee communication on employee engagement, innovation and monthly newletters. This person will coordinate with all communications and marketing staff in the division. This person will also help develop employee onboarding materials and training.Parking and Transportation Services is an auxiliary of Colorado State University and is comprised of three departments that operate very closely together, Customer Engagement and Access; Active Transportation and Fleet Services; and Finance and Capital Management. PTS oversees parking management (over 9000 spaces), university Vision Zero effort, transportation infrastructure (bicycle, bus, longboard), active transportation services (ride sharing, carshare, commuter education), event services, fleet maintenance and rentals and charter bus operations. Position Summary

The Director of Marketing and Communications is a talented leader who successfully manages marketing and communications for a complex organization which impacts every area of CSU. The position works as a team member with other high-level professionals both within, and external to, the Division of University Operations. The position requires professional standards of high quality, responsiveness, the ability to simultaneously lead at an executive level and be willing to get directly involved in projects as needed, as well as excellence in providing service to others and to support the University in its efforts to maintain its stature as a top transportation organization.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, and the ability to work successfully with many diverse groups of people, including high level University leaders, state and local officials, students, members of the public, department employees and others. This position must establish and maintain good working relationships with academic, support and research units. The Director must also have a strong commitment to the overall best interests of the University, sustainability, teamwork, staff development, staff diversity and customer service and satisfaction.

The Director is responsible for creating and implementing the strategic vision for Marketing and Communications for VPUO and PTS. The Director also collaborates with the VP of VPUO and the Executive Director of PTS to innovate and maximize the marketing and communication efforts to reach the broad range of members that make up the CSU Community.
