Job Summary


The Director of Marketing and Community Outreach is responsible for providing college-wide leadership in researching, developing, planning, implementing, and monitoring integrated marketing strategies which enhance the institutional brand and reputation, and which drive inquiries and applications to the college to meet strategic enrollment management (SEM) goals. The position also provides strategy, planning and coordination for community outreach and engagement activities which provide support and visibility to the Colleges mission and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders. The Director manages vendors, projects and systems; performs market research and develops strategies to identify and penetrate new markets; establishes process and mechanisms to measure effectiveness of marketing efforts and makes recommendations for improvements. The position reports to the Vice President of Advancement.

This position requires a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and two (2) years of experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of degree and experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and human relations skills in order to work collaboratively and deal effectively with individuals and constituencies with diverse perspectives and interests and to develop effective working relationships with individuals at all levels within the College and with outside organizations.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in multiple formats including social media, websites, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of higher education marketing methods and successful track record of developing marketing initiatives to increase student enrollment and retention
  • Experience in Higher Education or Minnesota State system, preferably at a community or technical college
  • Experience managing marketing, advertising, and public relations campaigns and projects
  • Experience with Adobe Design Suite including Photoshop, illustrator, and In-Design
  • Experience with search engine optimization, geo-targeting, digital channel analytics and other internet-based marketing technologies.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and decision making
  • Experience managing vendors and negotiating contracts
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and project management skills, including planning, coordination, delegation, collaboration and follow through
  • Collaborative management and working style
  • Supervisory experience

Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
