The Director of Network Operations is responsible for all technical operations, including but not limited to growth and training of the technical staff, implementing and research of technologies, driving innovation and service enhancements to our customers, and ensuring the integrity of our network.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage operations staff for the purpose of ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coach, train, mentor, develop, and administer discipline where appropriate to operations staff.
  • Inspect work for quality control, consult and document the training process, ensure maintenance documentation is completed in adherence to Alpine's brand promises.
  • Complete and review performance evaluations with employees for all employees reporting to this position, annually.
  • Provide frequent feedback in Threads for team members.
  • Utilize available management information technologies to make and implement team decisions.
  • Plan and execute all projects through completion.
  • Accomplish goals and adhere to the mission of Alpine Communications.
  • Research new and existing technologies, products, and services for the purpose of determining viable expansion opportunities.
  • Research current telecommunication and related research activity, identify trends and development opportunities.
  • Evaluate technologies, products, services, cybersecurity plan, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintain accurate plant records (CPR, plant and network facilities, NISC, maps, standards, processes and procedures, timesheets, and inventory).
  • Provide recommendations to the COO/GM.
  • Attend seminars, tradeshows, meet with vendors, and read current articles relating to the telecommunications industry.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to company personnel for the purpose of sharing knowledge and increasing the effectiveness of company operations.
  • Answer questions, conduct formal and informal training, provide resolution recommendations, and suggest resources.
  • Ensure company personnel have proper equipment and resources in a timely manner.
  • Develop implementation strategies for the purpose of directing the environment and deployment of new services or products.
  • Prioritize system enhancements in conjunction with company priorities.
  • Develop and implement product introduction plans.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and coordinate necessary testing.
  • Serve as a liaison between marketing and operations for purpose of product design and introduction.
  • Organize application engineering for the purpose of verifying equipment integrity and proper operation for customer satisfaction, focusing on service quality and availability.
  • Prepare annual operations and capital budget in conjunction with overall company budget.
  • Coordinate plans, specifications, and other data for additional equipment or upgrades, design, install, and mange special projects.
  • Prepare monthly reports to be presented to the COO/GM.
  • Analyze service contracts for the purpose of ensuring the company meets all obligations.
  • Study terms and conditions, service results and regulations, system policies, RUS specifications, compare guidelines to the services provided, take action to meet all company responsibilities.
  • Consider risk management regarding interactions with employees, vendors, and customers to protect Company assets.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science, or related field, required.
  • 7-10 years of network, Telcom/ISP, VLANS, Routers, Switches experience, required.
  • Certified Cisco Network Associate or MCSE, required.
  • Broad understanding of all networking and system standards, protocols, security, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Proven ability to lead a team and train and grow staff.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions.

    Additional Requirements

  • Occasional overnight travel, required.
  • Occasional travel by air, required.
  • Frequent travel by car, required.
  • Frequent flexible hours, required.
