Working Location:

Working Hours/Shift:

Monday - Friday Regular Business hours with on call rotation. Determined by Facility needs.

What you bring to SBHG:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing required.

    Associates degree, Bachelors Degree, or Masters Degree in nursing preferred.

  • Associates degree: 4) years in nursing administration required.

  • Bachelors degree: (2) years in nursing administration required.

  • Masters degree: (1) year in nursing administration required.

  • Prior experience as Director of Nursing in acute psychiatric setting/skilled preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in California required.
  • Valid CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid Pro-ACT certification required within 30 days of hire.
  • A valid California Drivers License is required.

How you will make a difference:

  • Hires, trains, and supervises nursing staff and provides direction to other program staff as needed.
  • Supervises the direct nursing care provided by all nursing staff.
  • Develops and maintains service objectives, standards of nursing practice, nursing policy and procedure manuals and written job descriptions for all nursing personnel.
  • Oversees physical healthcare services provided by primary care physicians and emergency services provided through local hospitals.
  • Provides nursing care as described in the Registered Nurse job description, as needed to supplement nursing staffing and services.
  • In collaboration with the Clinical Director, ensures that the YPHF is in compliance with all Federal, State and local regulations pertaining to nursing care and treatment, clinical mental health services and Patients Rights.
  • Ensures accurate, complete, and appropriate nursing care plans and other nursing documentation are generated and maintained in a timely manner in the medical record.
  • Coordinates and is responsible for monthly licensed nursing meetings; attends and participates in Organized Clinical Meeting, Clinical Department Head and Department Head Meetings.
  • Participates in administrative supervision of the facility as an On-Call Manager
  • Participates in the development of the departmental budgets and is responsible for its implementation and management.
  • Consults with the Training Coordinator and SBHG Senior Nurse Consultant in planning and conducting the orientation program and continuing education for nursing personnel.
  • Develops and monitors the Infection Control Program for the facility to safeguard residents and staff. Advises Administration of potential infection hazards and recommends corrective measures. Reports findings and recommendations at least quarterly to the Safety Committee.
  • Creates and maintains weekly schedule for nursing staff including a current on-call list.
  • Establishes and monitors controls for the purchase, storage, administration and destruction of drugs and other pharmaceuticals as required by law.
  • Manages pharmacy, pharmacist, x-ray, laboratory, and ambulance services contracts.
  • Assists with the preparation and maintenance of organizational accreditation activities.
  • Assures appropriate inventory and distribution of resident supplies.
  • Coordinates with the Quality Assurance to ensure the implementation of LPS policies and procedures.
  • Attends YPHF Treatment Teams regularly and schedules nurses and child care staff to ensure the regular attendance of licensed nurses at treatment teams.
  • Participates in the Agencys and SBHGs Total Quality Management (TQM) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) systems which support compliance with Joint Commission and other accreditation standards as applicable.
  • Participates in TQM activities as requested including CQI subcommittees, probes, peer review, audit and/or tracer activities as appropriate.

  • 24/7 inpatient involuntary program
  • 16-bed facility for acute youth (ages 5-17)
  • Intensive treatment programs with individualized care plans
  • Available for contracting Central Valley counties
  • Moves clients through five phases: admission; engagement; learning; stabilization and linkage to resources and aftercare
