Shift Timings: 7A 3P 8H (40Hrs) Variable Days

About Facility:
  • Conrad MT 59425
  • Critical Access Hospital attached
  • Rural Montana- 1 hour from Canada
  • 1 grocery store in town
  • Population 2400
  • 59 miles to nearest Walmart
General Information:
  • Beds: 59
  • Will you accept a traveler with 1-year experience? 1 year of DON experience
  • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes, as long as they have DON experience
Patient Types:
  • LTC patients; Geriatrics and there is also a secured, locked unit for Dementia patients
Patient Ratios:
  • Will take patient assignments to cover any staffing shortages: Days 1:20; Nights 1:36
Required Certifications:
  • BLS
Skills required:
  • Leadership skills, conflict resolutions, knowledge of Montana nursing home regulations (will be trained if needed), communication skills, rounding, staff coaching, gathering staff input, engaging with staff and resident care
Support on the Unit:
  • Leadership
  • Nursing Home Administrator
  • MDS
  • Infection Prevention (not an RN, so vaccines completed by nursing staff)
Technology/Equipment:
  • EMR: Point Click Care
  • Medication dispensing: Locked med carts
Floating: If yes, where?
  • none
Orientation (how many shifts):
  • up to 2 weeks, based on comfort level
Scheduling:
  • Weekend rotation: possibly 1-2 times a month, depending on the needs
  • Call? Varies could be every other weekend; call is in rotation with the Administrator
  • Holiday Expectations: Varies
  • Approval of time off: up to 3 days
  • Shift times: 0800-1700, but could vary based on any situations occurring at the time
Other notes:
  • Scrub Color: Business casual while DON; any color scrubs if taking patient assignments
  • Parking: Free
  • CNA schedules are completed by ADON, nurse schedules are the responsibility of the DON. Working on overstaffing CNAs on weekends to plan for call offs. Staffing for nurses is good.
  • Current DON is happy to help find housing if traveler needs assistance
