Director of Operations – Metal Building Division

We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Operations to lead and grow our metal building division. This is a senior leadership role for someone who understands metal buildings from the ground up — design, engineering coordination, production flow, and field execution.

This is not a general management position. We are looking for a hands-on expert who knows how metal buildings actually go together and can lead teams, systems, and projects with authority.

Position Overview

The Director of Operations will oversee all operational aspects of our metal building projects from preconstruction through completion. This person will bridge the gap between estimating, engineering, fabrication, and field installation to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the metal building division
• Oversee project scheduling, production flow, and manpower planning
• Coordinate with engineering, detailing, fabrication, and field crews
• Review drawings and ensure constructability
• Manage project managers and superintendents
• Improve operational systems, processes, and efficiency
• Ensure jobs stay on budget and on schedule
• Problem-solve field and fabrication issues
• Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships
• Support preconstruction and estimating when needed
• Ensure safety, quality control, and performance standards are met

Required Qualifications (Must-Have)

• Expert-level knowledge of metal building systems (PEMB / pre-engineered metal buildings)
• Proficiency in MBS (Metal Building Software)
• Deep understanding of how metal buildings are fabricated and erected
• Experience reading and interpreting structural and shop drawings
• Background in steel erection, metal building construction, or fabrication
• Proven experience managing multiple projects and teams
• Strong scheduling and logistics experience
• Ability to solve real-world field problems

Preferred Experience

• 10+ years in metal building construction or fabrication
• Previous leadership or operations management role
• Experience with PEMB manufacturers
• Knowledge of building codes and structural systems
• Budget and cost control experience
