Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A direct leadership role is available for an experienced Director of Pharmacy (DOP)/Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to support the opening and operational setup of a behavioral health facility. This contract position requires a licensed pharmacist with a strong background in inpatient behavioral pharmacy services.
Location: Independence, Missouri
Schedule & Hours:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM plus on-call coverage
- On-call coverage required for weekends
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead pharmacy operations for a newly opening behavioral health hospital, including initial setup and establishment of pharmacy services
- Collaborate with nursing staff on medication ordering and machine stocking processes
- Develop and manage pharmacy policies and procedures tailored to the inpatient behavioral setting
- Utilize experience with order entry systems, preferably HCS or Cerner, and site automation tools such as Omnicell
- Maintain effective communication of progress and updates through weekly calls and emails
- Adapt to a dynamic startup environment, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills
- Provide on-call support during weekends without tech assistance
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Missouri pharmacist license in good standing
- Proven experience in inpatient behavioral pharmacy practice
- Familiarity with pharmacy automation systems, particularly Omnicell, is preferred
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to support new facility pharmacy setup
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
