Director of Planning and Procurement

We are targeting to hire for this position in the range of $115,000-130,000/yr

Position Summary/objective of job:

The Director of Planning and Procurement will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of planning strategy for the company from raw ingredients through finished goods. They will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a cross-departmental consensus demand plan ensuring that purchasing, production, and fulfillment plans supply demand across all channels and align to the overall strategy of the company and its goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:

  • Convert financial forecasts to SKU level forecasts for production planning for new, seasonal, and existing products.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to develop channel specific demand plans based on historical patterns and business trends. Anticipate and respond to seasonal changes and customer reactions to product and promotions.
  • Design, implement, and lead the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) review and consensus forecasting process with partners in Marketing, Shop Operations, and Finance resulting in forecast alignment and financial reconciliation.
  • In partnership with R&D, develop, lead, and execute sourcing strategies that support company values, standards, and innovative vision.
  • Strategically build the supplier network to meet the changing needs of the business and deliver cost savings year over year.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (R&D and QA) to ensure compliance with ingredient documentation requirements. i.e., SPEC sheets, COAs, contracts, etc.
  • Oversee the item setup and maintenance process in ERP (NetSuite) to ensure clean and easily usable data.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to build item master data processes.
  • Drive planning activities to meet in-stock goals, inventory targets, sales goals, and maintain fill rates across multiple distribution channels.
  • Ensure production schedules for bakery, ice cream, or co-manufacturing partners drive efficiency and meet inventory needs.
  • Devise classic and seasonal production plans to maximize availability and minimize obsolescence.
  • Oversee and guide schedule priorities between Production, Logistics, and Purchasing.Interpret and communicate risk of shortages.
  • Thoughtfully and positively lead and develop teams to achieve great results.
  • Build Team Member skills to drive continuous improvement.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Travel to key partner suppliers, vendors, and market visits 2-3 times per year.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in supply chain or business administration, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in forecasting, planning, fulfillment, production, demand planning or a related role.
  • 5+ years experience managing a team of 3 or more
  • APICS or similar certification preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of forecasting techniques and Sales and Operations Planning.
  • ERP and planning/forecasting solution experience; experience with NetSuite strongly preferred.
  • Experience in food and beverage, or consumer goods industry preferred.

Knowledge and Critical Skills:

  • Self-directed with organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize, work effectively and positively under pressure.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills and the ability to bring hospitality into all interactions with team, direct reports, and customer and vendor relationships.
  • Proven leader and peer influencer.
  • Excellent quality orientation and attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and timelines to meet schedules; good presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Solid judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proven ability to be flexible and supportive when faced with ever-changing priorities.
  • Math skills: Ability to work with percentages and fractions; ability to convert units of measure; knowledge of statistics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Fluency in English.
