Job Description:

USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Recruiting Operations to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is charged with assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of strategies for football, student-athlete and recruiting operations. This incumbent will assist the USC Football program with carrying out the athletic department and football programs mission to recruit and retain the best and brightest student-athletes for the University of Southern California.

This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the university, conference, and the NCAA.

Required Qualifications:


  • Ability to collaborate and work together as part of a team.
  • Motivated, self-starter, with ability to work effectively and efficiently with project deadlines.
  • Proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
  • Ability to accurately read and understand written materials and instructions.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Recruiting, the Director of Recruiting Operations will work in collaboration with key members of the USC Football recruiting team, football program, and athletics department.

This position serves a diverse student and staff population, must demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for historically under-served populations, and is expected to contribute to the programs diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts. This is an exempt position with work expected to include nights, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours.

The Director of Recruiting Operations will help execute all on-campus football, recruiting and special event programming, with primary focus on official visits, unofficial visits, game day recruiting programming, and junior days. In addition, this person will accomplish tasks associated with all USC Football operations & team events.

Examples Of Associated Tasks Include:


  • Organizing and logging all recruiting event ticket lists, staff tickets, time management planning, practice guests, and recruiting correspondence.
  • Management of the USC Football Game Day/Student Office Assistant Program, providing support and highly critical guidance, rooted in proficient quality service.
  • Assisting with and executing events with an eye toward ensuring first-class, mission-consistent experiences for future student-athletes.
  • Collaborating with Executive Director to assist with additional operation processes associated with all off-the-field activities.


The Director of Recruiting Operations will also be responsible for assisting the Executive Director with proactive compliance practices and initial eligibility.

Associated Tasks Include:


  • Promoting an atmosphere of compliance and assisting Executive Director with monitoring recruiting practices, educating coaches, and logging all compliance-related activities.
  • Logging all email and phone correspondence associated with compliance activity for the Executive Director and Head Football Coach.
  • Assisting coaches with travel, reimbursement forms, ticket requests, and additional clerical duties.


The Director of Recruiting Operations will assist the Executive Director with all forms of recruiting correspondence, including social media communications, recruit mailers, email, and questionnaires.

Examples Of Associated Tasks Include:


  • Collaborating with the recruiting and communications staff to develop themes, content ideas, and shared verbiage to enhance consistency and branding of recruiting communication.
  • Guiding student office assistants with mass production tasks associated with mail, email, text correspondence.
  • Exploring the enhanced application of data analytics to the Football recruiting process to increase efficiency and potency of efforts.
  • Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.

Qualifications:


  • The ideal candidate will possess a bachelors degree and three years of experience. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. Experience in recruiting operations, office management, or another related field preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
  • Experience managing teams.
  • Advanced skills using social media, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing.
  • Working knowledge of university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.


Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $89,799.64-$110,704.11.
