Director of Store IT Architecture
- Our client has developed groundbreaking optical software that revolutionizes the patient experience at independent optometric clinics. This innovative technology allows patients to undergo a comprehensive eye health examination from a licensed optometrist, all from the comfort of their home. No more long waits or travel inconveniences.
- The capabilities of a live remote video conference between the patient and doctor, followed by remote operation, is utilized, enabling this all-inclusive exam that includes subjective visual findings from an experienced professional who will then provide you with accurate prescription glasses to see clearly once again!
- The successful hire will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can be a leader, show technical prowess, and utilize superb communication skills. You will be leading a team of engineers to improve existing capabilities and design new solutions not yet existing within the Optical industry. This leadership role will own this critical IT / Business role, giving you a significant influence on the company's direction. It will not only be able to engage directly with technology but also want to be directly engaged hands-on where necessary. Further, this position will involve a lot of business. The business team is, many times, the source of ideas.
- It is expected you will also work closely with the software development and infrastructure teams. This role will be a leader, innovator, mentor, and teacher. The ideal candidate is a self-starting professional with solid communication skills and an insatiable appetite for creating new solutions and continuously improving existing ones.
What you'll be doing -
- Lead a team of engineers and build an environment of collaboration, innovation, and excellence. Provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities to ensure high performance and continuous growth within the team.
- Act as a key liaison, engaging regularly and directly with the CEO, COO, CTO, and CIO. Communicate effectively with these senior executives to align engineering initiatives with organizational goals, provide updates on project progress, and address any strategic concerns or opportunities.
- Serve as primary point of contact for customers, actively participating in discussions to introduce and explain new concepts, technologies, and solutions. Work closely with clients to gain a deep
- understanding of their needs, challenges, and objectives, ensuring that engineering solutions are tailored to meet their requirements and deliver exceptional value.
- Collaborate with the Application Development team, driving innovation, creating and implementing new concepts and enhancements to existing solutions. Foster an environment encouraging innovative thinking and ensuring alignment between engineering and application development goals.
- Work with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize application update requirements. Assess business needs and coordinate with relevant teams to align engineering efforts with strategic objectives and ensure timely delivery of high-impact updates.
- Engage in communicating with clients and all key stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation related to engineering projects and application updates. Ensure all documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and accessible to the business team. Facilitate effective communication with customers by providing clear and relevant information where applicable, enhancing the overall customer experience.
- Partner with 3rd party companies
- Engage with Employee Medical Record (EMR) companies for API integration
- Work closely with optical equipment manufacturers and their software integration API's
- Partner with Customer Facing Support Teams
- Identify / track issues to target for application improvements
Qualifications-
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven experience of over 10 years in management, leading and managing teams across various engineering and technical functions, and a proven track record of driving strategic initiatives, fostering team development, and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Proven skills in managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and consultants, implementing process improvements, and navigating organizational dynamics to achieve business objectives.
- Must have a solid understanding of serial port and RS-232 configuration management, demonstrating proficiency in configuring, troubleshooting, and optimizing serial communication systems. (Adept at managing serial port settings, diagnosing connectivity issues, and ensuring seamless integration with various hardware and software systems.
- Strong analytical skills, hands-on experience with serial communication tools, and the ability to clearly document and communicate technical details.
- Experience with managing and implementing technical projects
- Solid working knowledge of Cloud-based solutions Virtual Machines, Networks, Storage, Security etc.
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 10 and 11 operating systems
- Solid working knowledge of PC hardware and networking
- Azure or AWS Foundations Certification a plus
