Position OverviewThe Director of Surgical Services at Lake Chelan Health (LCH) is responsible for leading and coordinating high-quality, safe, patient-centered care in Surgery and Perioperative Services. This role requires effective collaboration with patient care teams across the facility, aligning with LCH's mission and vision to support a positive healthcare experience for patients and their families.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Safety and Quality Care
- Uphold patient safety and evidence-based practices within the perioperative environment.
- Foster a culture of excellence and safety, continuously educating and managing clinical practices to align with best practices.
Operational and Financial Management
- Participate in the development of annual operating and capital budgets, clearly defining service needs.
- Monitor and analyze budget performance, adjusting as needed to meet financial goals.
- Apply systems thinking to support the broader organizational strategy and promote continuous quality improvement.
Team Leadership and Development
- Oversee caregiver recruitment, onboarding, development, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.
- Foster a supportive team environment, focusing on effective communication, team dynamics, and conflict management.
Professional Accountability
- Commit to personal and professional growth while demonstrating ethical practices.
- Collaborate with other LCH teams to ensure optimal, safe patient care.
Creating a Healing Environment
- Maintain a calm, clean, and patient-focused atmosphere in the perioperative area.
- Model professionalism, compassion, and respect, encouraging caregivers to do the same.
- License: Registered Nurse licensed in Washington State.
- Education: BSN required, or must enroll in an accredited program within one year of hire.
- Certifications: Current Healthcare Provider CPR, ACLS, and PALS (or obtain within 3 months).
- Experience:
- Minimum of four years in a perioperative setting, with at least two years as an OR circulating and/or scrub nurse.
- CNOR certification (or obtain within 12 months).
- Management or supervisory experience (two years preferred).
- Experience in growing surgical volumes or managing OR construction projects is highly desirable.
