Position Summary
The Director for the Institute for Professional Studies in Education ( IPSE ) is responsible for all aspects of the unit and reports to the Dean of the School of Education ( SOE ). The Director oversees development and delivery of program curriculum and assessment, academic instruction and evaluation for all Masters programs, some which include certifications related to the following areas: educational leadership, director of instruction, reading specialist, reading teacher, special education, teaching English to speakers of other languages, and professional development. Additionally, she/he/they is responsible for direct supervision of program faculty and staff including: Marketing Specialist, Outreach Specialist, University Services Program Associate 2, multiple Program Directors who oversee the various areas outlined above. The Director participates in and oversees all program operations including: strategic planning, development of new initiatives, preparation and assessment, program budget, program marketing, staffing, and recruitment. She/He/They ensures that all programs within IPSE function in accordance with policies and procedures as required by UW-L SOE and Graduate and Extended Learning, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, and the Higher Learning Commission. The Director works in collaboration with various academic department heads and other administrators throughout UW-L as appropriate.

Required Qualifications
- A terminal degree (Ph.D. or EdD) in an academic field related to Education, Educational Leadership or a related field.
- At least eight years of progressive leadership and administrative experiences within a higher education or closely related, setting.
- Commitment to innovative program development across modalities.
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Experience with positively impacting student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.
- Demonstrated commitment to shared governance and faculty and staff development.
- Experience in recruitment, retention, supervision and mentorship of high-quality educators and staff.
- Commitment to staff development with a significant emphasis on succession and workforce planning.
- Experience working collaboratively with University leadership, state organizations, and/or PK-12 schools.
- Commitment to establishing external partnerships.
- An understanding of finance, budgeting and resource allocation.
