Bring your analytical and program management skills to the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Bureau of Vehicle Services (BVS) as a Motor Vehicle Program Specialist-Advanced!

This position is headquartered out of the Hill Farms Office Building in Madison, Wisconsin, which is conveniently located close to the Hilldale shopping center, offering a variety of restaurants, shopping, entertainment and a weekly summer Farmers Market on Wednesdays! As the state's capitol city, there are a variety of restaurants, shops, parks, events, and lakes to explore. Madisonians enjoy spending time outdoors on land or on water, exploring the city parks, heading to a local farmers market, biking to their destination and trying new restaurants.

This position may operate with a hybrid remote work schedule (two days in the office and three days remote) once fully trained.

Working either individually or as a team member, you will be responsible for policy analysis, program evaluation, strategic planning, program management and research of a broad range of major motor vehicle issues. You will assist in establishing motor vehicle projects including the study design, project management, research and analysis , and documenting results. Also, you will lead special projects that require policy research and analysis including formulating, recommending, drafting and negotiating policies, rules, and statutes for the processing of title and registration applications. Act as a liaison between DMV and other divisions, departments, vendors, industry groups, law enforcement agencies, special interest groups, and the legislature.

This position may operate with a hybrid remote work schedule (two days in the office and three days remote) once fully trained.

This position is in schedule-range (07-03) with an annual salary of $62,400-$74,880, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

WisDOT does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States. WisDOT is not an E-verify employer.

  • Experience managing and reporting data to management.
  • Experience serving as a customer service liaison for internal and external customers.

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements.
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting statutes, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Experience gathering data and compiling data using Microsoft Excel or similar.
