Job Summary: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.

Under the direction of the Donor Relations Supervisor, this individual is responsible for responding to various donor inquiries/requests and engaging in activities that foster and strengthen positive relationships with DAV’s supporters. This is accomplished by facilitating the development and execution of various correspondence and communications, in addition to inputting necessary data into systems for the effective tracking and monitoring of donor interactions. Requires the ability to adapt to change, multitask between different duties at any given time, and the ability to work independently, as well as on a team.



Essential Functions:

  • Provide excellent customer service via various communication channels (including phone, email, letter, and text) to donors and other supporters
  • Build a positive rapport with donors as well as track and report data regarding the daily interactions
  • Work closely with Donor Relations team members and other departments to accomplish established goals and objectives
  • Consistently train backup personnel and temporary employees as needed
  • Perform fulfillment activities for donor requests
  • Conduct daily data entry, problem solve, document, and report progress/data related to assigned tasks
  • Organize and facilitate the processing of donor correspondence (direct mail, email, and phone calls)
  • Maintain assigned projects and meet projected deadlines
  • Assist department as the workload dictates and assume other responsibilities as assigned by management


Essential Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in customer service
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required
  • Must have excellent spelling, grammar, and computer skills
  • Written communication skills with the ability to compose routine correspondence with minimum direction
  • Accurate proofreading of correspondence in order to identify spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors
  • Excellent telephone etiquette with the ability to speak clearly, tactfully, and succinctly
  • Possess good time management skills and be self-motivated
  • Ability to comprehend and utilize various software applications
