THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this position, you will be responsible for directly interacting with customers to verify their identification, assist them in completing application forms, and input their information into an online driver license application software. Additionally, you will be administering standardized knowledge tests to assess the applicant's understanding of the Vehicle Code, driving laws, and traffic control devices. A vision screening using a telebinocular instrument will be conducted to evaluate the visual acuity of all applicants. Your role will also involve entering applicant test results and customer applications into online software systems using a PC terminal. It is crucial that you strictly adhere to all aspects of the Driver and Vehicle Services' Customer Service Policy to ensure a high level of service. Furthermore, you will be responsible for correctly applying for and documenting fee waivers whenever necessary to process a customer transaction. It is essential to comply with all aspects of the Fee Waiver Guidelines. Lastly, you may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.
  • These positions will be located at the new Exeter Real ID DLC 4375 Perkiomen Ave, Reading, PA 19606. Until Center is ready, employees and new hires will be trained at the current Reading DLC located at 530 East Lancaster Ave, Shillington, PA 19607.
  • Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime and travel are required.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.

Other Requirements:
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:
  • This position requires the selected candidate to undergo and pass a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.
