Driver Orientation Manager Apply
The Driver Orientation Manager will be responsible for managing the onboarding and orientation process for new drivers at our Bridgeview, IL location. This on-site position involves coordinating all aspects of orientation for 15-20 new drivers weekly, from introducing company policies to assisting with truck assignments. The goal is to provide an outstanding onboarding experience that sets drivers up for success. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, a basic understanding of DOT regulations, and a passion for delivering exceptional training and support.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and Manage Orientation Programs:
- Develop and conduct engaging orientation sessions for new drivers, ensuring a comprehensive introduction to the company.
- Coordinate with the recruiting team to schedule orientation programs and manage the weekly onboarding of 15-20 drivers.
- Create and maintain orientation materials, including presentations, handouts, and digital resources, to facilitate a seamless onboarding experience.
- Coordinate Training and Driver Assignments:
- Collaborate with the recruiting team to understand the needs of new drivers and ensure a smooth transition into their roles.
- Assist with the assignment of trucks and equipment to new drivers, ensuring they are familiar with their vehicles.
- Provide basic training on company-specific procedures and safety practices, ensuring all drivers are well-prepared to begin their duties.
- Facilitate Onboarding Process:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new drivers during the onboarding process, offering support and answering questions.
- Guide new drivers through the completion of required paperwork and ensure all necessary documentation is accurately submitted.
- Provide an exceptional onboarding experience, fostering a positive and welcoming environment for new team members.
- Evaluate and Improve Orientation Programs:
- Gather feedback from new drivers about their onboarding experience and use this information to continuously improve the orientation process.
- Report on orientation program effectiveness and work with senior management to implement improvements where necessary.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in driver orientation and onboarding.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in driver orientation, training, or a related field within the transportation industry.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate new drivers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual abilities (e.g., English/Spanish) are a plus.
