Driver Trainer And Recruiter Apply
The position is responsible for administering a combination of classroom and on-the-job "field" training. Both areas will focus on driver training, left seat – right seat driving sessions, road testing, training follow up, and proactively educating the driver group for compliance. The position will also focus on areas including (but not limited to) the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle, the use of forward-facing camera systems, the transportation of hazardous materials (bulk liquid) including safe and spill free delivery and supporting the compliance of all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
The ideal candidate for the position will possess strong communication skills, be highly organized, possess problem-solving techniques, as well as a proficient knowledge of DOT regulations. The position itself is very flexible and will require patience, persistence, and a strong sense of team building. It is the driver trainer’s responsibility to serve as the last hurdle all onboarding drivers will clear to be released to operations for safe and efficient transportation and delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous bulk liquid products. The primary focus of Altom Transportation is the efficient pickup and delivery of all loads and conducting our operations in a safe and compliant manner with great care taken to prevent endangering the public. Finally, the position is very "hands-on" – requiring schedule flexibility.
Requirements
Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven background in safety, transportation, compliance, preferred. Specific focus on commercial motor vehicles.
- In-depth understanding of DOT rules and regulations.
- Proactive training ability with the ability to identify the training needs of applicants and adjusting training to ensure those training needs are resolved.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in varying weather conditions.
- Physical strength to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to climb ladders higher than 10 feet and work from heights on occasion.
