Maintenance & Construction has an outstanding opportunity for a Driver Warehouse Worker.

Under the general supervision of the Program Support Supervisor for Moving Operations, safely operate light and medium duty vehicles (up to one and one-half ton); pick up, receive, and deliver furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies within required time-frames; perform warehousing duties in support of UW Moving and Surplus.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Operate light and medium duty vehicles, up to and including one and one-half ton trucks. Operate hydraulic lift gate, when applicable. Receive, load and unload, and deliver furniture, equipment, materials and supplies to various locations on and off the UW Seattle campus. Move furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies within room, building, and/or between buildings as described on job card. Advise clients and communicate on move preparations, process, and progress.

Pick up surplused materials from UW department locations. Determine appropriate disposition of materials, notate disposition on item tag, receive and update status in database utilizing a mobile device. Advise clients of inventory updates and changes, materials requiring special handling, and/or materials unable to pick up as requested.

Protect material being transported and moved using pads, carpet, cardboard, etc. Protect buildings, elevators, grounds, etc. as necessary in preparation for movement of materials.

Receive, unpack and sort incoming items. Load, unload, move, and distribute furniture, equipment, and materials within the surplus warehouse. Inspect property for condition, quantity, and type against shipping documents and resolve any associated discrepancies. Make identification tags, determine the disposition of property. Input receipt of inventory and inventory disposition status into the surplus inventory management system. Conduct physical inventories as scheduled and/or directed.

Determine appropriate storage locations and placement of property in the warehouse. Maintain warehouse arrangement to maximize space utilization and accommodate all current and incoming property. Assure that property is appropriately stored, kept in good condition, and handled by following acceptable safety practices.

Safely operate material handling equipment used in loading, unloading, moving, and delivering furniture, equipment, materials, and supplies. Material handling equipment includes but is not limited to: forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, hand trucks, 4-wheel dollies, panel carts, and machine carts.
Utilize hardware and software associated with UW Moving work management system and UW Surplus inventory management.

Issue, deliver, and pickup packing materials to/from moving customers. Maintain physical inventories of packing materials on an ongoing basis. Maintain packing materials and moving equipment storage areas to maximize space utilization and accommodate all current and incoming equipment and supplies.

Perform pre-trip vehicle inspections and minor service on assigned vehicle, (e.g. tire pressure, windshield fluid), and clean the interior and exterior of the vehicle as needed.

Participate in workplace safety and job training certification classes as required to perform daily duties.

Participate in organizational, division, unit, and work group programs: Balanced Scorecard, Lean Process Improvement, and other business efforts in order to improve workplace practices and processes to add value to the services provided.
Provide support to all Materials Management programs and functions. Perform related duties as required. Assist with special projects as assigned.
