Salary: $10.00 HourlyLocation : Victoria, TXJob Type: Part TimeJob Number: 201400655Division: InstructionDepartment: Academic Support and Student SuccessOpening Date: 04/03/2024Position Summary The Academic Support & Student Services Department is recruiting for three temporary part-time Program Assistants for the Drone Pilot Academy which will take place in June 2024. This position is responsible for serving in a mentoring capacity for participants. The Program Assistant will provide assistance to the Camp Coordinator, camp participants, and instructors while fostering a welcoming environment. This position is grant funded and will be paid a total of $10 per hour of work not exceed 56 hours of total work. Duties & Responsibilities Assist with delivery of VC Drone Pilot Academy curriculumAdminister or assist with the administration of program surveysAssist with customization of the curriculum and delivery to meet the students' needsFoster a classroom environment that encourages interaction and collaboration among camp students and instructorsEncourage student success in the class through active engagement, academic understanding, project accomplishment, and social interactionMaintain effective communication with camp staffParticipate in all required camp trainings, meetings, and classroom setupProvide feedback on the curriculum and camp operationsPerform all other duties as assigned by camp staff Qualifications Enrolled in college with a 2.5 or higher GPAComputer programming experience or an academic record showing computer programming courseworkCompletion of advanced mathematics course(s) preferredPrior experience working with adolescents preferredPrior experience working for or attending a VC STEM camp preferredMajoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics preferred Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job.
