Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic, healthcare-minded person that is ready for their next career move. DSHS is recruiting for an Adult Family Home Licensor to join our Lynnwood team. In this role, your dedication supports our goals of advocacy for vulnerable populations as part of the Aging and Long-term Support Administration.

As a new member of our team, your workday can be intensive, yet rewarding. As an Adult Family Home Licensor, you will travel from Lynnwood to Shoreline and surrounding communities individually or as a team member, conducting and coordinating state licensure inspections and federal certification surveys of adult family homes. This important job ensures that resident care is appropriate and supports stability for the resident. The work that you do as a team is important to peoples' well-being,

Some of what you will be doing

  • Conduct on-sight state licensure inspections; this can involve visiting a facility for consecutive days until complete
  • Manage workload and timelines including preparation, completion of investigations, track concerns
  • Observe resident services and care
  • Interview residents, family members, and other community representatives to obtain information regarding satisfaction with the care and services provided
  • Obtain information regarding nursing care and services from medical records, facility staff, and other sources
  • Communicate findings with providers throughout inspection process
  • Initiate and complete accurate and timely finding reports; record observations in governmental healthcare databases

Who should apply
Professionals with a health care facility background is preferred, but as a minimum those with a:
  • Masters degree in social work, speech pathology, occupational or physical therapy, psychology, special education, nutrition, sociology or a related field, + 2 years of professional experience in planning, administering, licensing, monitoring or delivering social or health or behavioral health service programs
  • Or, a bachelors degree in in one of the above fields, + 4 years of professional experience in planning, administering, licensing, monitoring or delivering social or health or behavioral health service programs

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Basic use of various databases to enter data and write required reports
  • Evaluation of health care and residential care services
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Principles and practices of public health fields, community organizations and resources, effective teaching methods, research, and study methods

This job is classified as a Long-Term Care Surveyor. It is important to note that you will travel individually and/or in teams, usually during the workweek, but this may require continuous days of work beyond five days and outside the normal business hours. In addition, as an emergency designated role, reporting for duty on short notice, outside of normal work hours and days, at different duty stations. Telework is allowed when not in the field conducting investigations.
