Summary:
The Echo Tech / Cardiac Sonographer performs a variety of cardiac ultrasound diagnostic procedures, producing high-quality echocardiographic images and measurements to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions. This role involves both inpatient and outpatient adult echo studies, including 2D, 3D, Doppler, TEE, and stress echocardiograms. The technologist will operate advanced imaging equipment, maintain detailed documentation, and work closely with cardiologists and nursing staff in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Responsibilities:

Perform adult echocardiograms including 2D, 3D, Color Doppler, and TEE procedures according to ASE standards.

Conduct specialized studies including bubble, contrast, pharmacologic stress, and treadmill stress echos.

Operate various ultrasound and cardiology systems (GE, Philips, Siemens, Toshiba, SonoSite, Hitachi) and ensure equipment calibration and image quality.

Perform and calculate measurements such as Simpson's Rule, LV Strain/Volume, Diastology, and Proximal Isovelocity Surface Area (PISA).

Maintain accurate patient records, test logs, and ensure timely documentation in PACS or EMR systems.

Communicate diagnostic findings to cardiologists and collaborate with other healthcare team members for patient care.

Provide patient education before, during, and after procedures to ensure comfort and understanding.

Participate in rotating on-call shifts - 1 shift per week (18:30 07:00) and weekend call (16:30 08:00).

Adhere to infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards.
Key Requirements:

Minimum 1 year of recent experience performing adult echocardiograms in a hospital or cardiology department.

First-time travelers not accepted - must be a seasoned traveler.

Must be proficient in performing 2D, 3D, TEE, and stress echocardiograms.

Must have ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) credential and BLS certification.

Must be available for on-call rotation (one weekday and occasional weekends).

Pending licenses not accepted.

RTO must be included at submission.

Local candidates: within a 50-mile radius considered at local rate.

Guaranteed hours: facility may call off once per 2-week pay period.

Block scheduling: not available.
Education:
-
Graduate of an accredited Cardiac Sonography or Echocardiography program.

Associate or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent preferred.
Experience:
-
At least 1 year of full-time cardiac sonography experience in an acute care hospital or cardiology department.

Experience performing adult echocardiograms across multiple care settings (ICU, ED, inpatient, outpatient).

Prior exposure to Trauma Level I or II facilities preferred.

Travel experience required - must demonstrate ability to adapt to multiple hospital systems and workflows.
License / Certification:

ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) required.

BLS (AHA) certification required.

State licensure (if applicable) must be active prior to start date.
Skills:

Technical Expertise: PACS navigation, image optimization, contrast agent administration, and cardiac measurements (Simpson's Rule, LV Strain, Diastology, PISA).
