The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for promoting and maintaining a strong safety and environmental culture by providing physical support for operations and departments at multiple Colorcon locations throughout the NALAN region. The key functions of this role include safety leadership, technical project management, safety training, environmental management, regulatory compliance, and reporting. This position will report to the EHS Manager. Responsibilities & Duties Proactively manage assigned site’s Safety and Health programs and environmental permits and reporting (air, water, waste, etc.). Partner with all departments to actively engage stakeholders, understand current safety needs and issues, and propose practical, solution‑oriented improvements. Independently conduct regular review of working conditions and proactive observations of potential safety and environmental hazards through regular site walkthroughs and open conversations with employees. Manage incident reporting system, including keeping the system updated with details of injury and near‑miss report details. Investigate reported near misses and injuries to determine root cause and implement corrective actions. Inform Human Resources of work injuries immediately and provide corresponding incident reports in a timely manner.Oversee EHS training for all employees assigned to site including developing training and providing in‑person and live online training. Also support various training initiatives, including new‑hire orientation, competency, leadership, and public seminars. Responsible for keeping evacuation plan updated and conducting minimum twice yearly drills with analysis and adjustments as needed. Identify and implement recommendations for continuous improvement, based on analysis of incident and industrial hygiene data and behavior‑based safety observations. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and reporting regarding safety, health, and the environment for the site. Manage and/or support site certifications including ISO 14001, Sustainability certifications and other non‑EHS site certifications as needed. Support/supervise HAZWOPER team members. Complete additional tasks as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required, with a scientific discipline strongly preferred. Experience in EHS required, preferably in a GMP manufacturing environment or equivalent. CSP, ASP, CIH, CHMM, MSP, and CSD certifications a plus. Demonstrated ability to partner among varied groups to create enthusiasm and compliance with EHS issues. Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills, with the ability to tailor communication style to different audiences and situations. Experience in Industrial Hygiene a plus. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work in a fast‑paced team environment. Knowledgeable on modern dust safety principles, flammable environments, root cause analysis, and NFPA standards. Experience completing and submitting OSHA 300 logs, Tier II, Form 26R, NPDES and DMR reports a plus. Excellent analytical skills including data collection and compilation. Experience in project management and development of training programs. Knowledge of current educational principles and methods, including innovative technologies and practices. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related regulatory and consensus standards required. Knowledge of process effectiveness techniques/strategies and Lean Manufacturing, preferred. Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, including staying current with research, regulatory changes, and modern safety and training methodologies. Working Location Primarily an on‑site position, reporting weekly to both the Harleysville, PA and Chalfont, PA locations. Working remotely from a home office will be facilitated when applicable and is at the manager’s discretion. Domestic travel required – up to 10% annually outside of local PA locations.
