Our client is a well-established UK manufacturer delivering engineered solutions across a variety of sectors including security, transport and medical. Due to continued growth, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Electrical & Controls Manager to take ownership of all electrical and automation activities across the business.This is a senior technical role offering genuine influence over project delivery, system design and commercial performance, working closely with engineering, projects and sales teams.The RoleAs Controls & Electrical Manager, you will lead all electrical and automation elements of projects from initial concept through to installation and commissioning. The position is mainly office-based, with regular site involvement as required.You will act as the technical authority for controls and electrical systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.Key responsibilities include:Leading the design and implementation of control systems across multiple projects.Producing and reviewing electrical drawings including schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and cable schedules.Managing PLC, HMI and SCADA software development.Defining technical scope from client requirements and producing detailed execution plans.Supporting tendering activities with technical input, costings and supplier engagement.Managing subcontractors and external suppliers related to electrical and controls packages.Overseeing testing and commissioning activities, including factory and site acceptance.Carrying out site surveys and coordinating electrical installation requirements.Maintaining commercial oversight of all controls and electrical project elements.Providing technical guidance to internal teams and supporting continuous improvement.Candidate RequirementsProven experience in electrical and controls engineering within a manufacturing or project-based environment.Strong control panel knowledge, including design and manufacturing processes.Strong understanding of industrial automation systems (PLC experience essential).Solid knowledge of electrical standards and installation regulations.Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into practical solutions.Comfortable working across multiple departments and managing stakeholder expectations.Experience using CAD and electrical design software.Commercially aware with experience managing budgets or project costs.Proactive, organised and capable of working autonomously when required.The Package£60,000–£80,000 basic salary (DOE)
