Electrical Associate Engineering Technician – Power Generation Modeler Date: Jul 9, 2026 Location: Overland Park, KS, Phoenix, AZ, Tualatin, OR, Jacksonville, FL, Bloomington, MN, Dallas, TX, Ann Arbor, MI, Cary, NC, Greenwood Village, CO, Orlando, FL, Houston, TX Job Type: Full-Time The Opportunity This opportunity with Black & Veatch offers the chance to collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams within the Power Providers Market Sector, supporting Advanced Power Generation (APG) projects and building critical infrastructure for today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Electrical professionals contribute to power systems design, including duct bank modeling, cable tray modeling, grounding, lighting, and other electrical systems supporting advanced power generation facilities. The Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) Associate Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting the development of high‑quality engineering 2D/3D deliverables for these complex infrastructure projects. Under general supervision, this position performs technical tasks requiring general knowledge of electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on creating and modifying electrical design drawings using advanced techniques in industry‑standard design tools, such as Bentley MicroStation and other Bentley tools. For lighting design, experience with AGI32 is preferred to support accurate modeling and illumination calculations across APG facilities. Key Responsibilities Supports engineering teams under general supervision Performs technical tasks requiring intermediate knowledge of engineering principles and practices Uses digital tools and design software (e.g., CAD, BIM, 3D modeling) Creates, updates, and maintains technical documentation, drawings, and project deliverables Begins providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering technicians Stays current on applicable standards, systems, document control practices, departmental guides, and BV policies and procedures Applies knowledge of the BV Quality Program to ensure accurate, compliant deliverables Demonstrates strong attention to detail while supporting continuous improvement and change management initiatives Uses and expands applications and tools to evaluate and improve methods, processes, and procedures Creates and develops project deliverables based on a variety of design inputs Performs basic computations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks Coordinates deliverables with other project groups to minimize errors and interferences Supports internal client needs while developing an understanding of external client priorities and drivers Proactively seeks out, shares, and applies knowledge of new technologies and evolving processes Preferred Qualifications Diploma or Certificate required. Associate Degree in Drafting or an Engineering Design Related Technology preferred. Minimum Qualifications Typically a minimum of 2 years related work experience.
