Job Title: Electrical Controls Engineer
Location: Manitowoc, WI (On-site)
Schedule: 1st shift | Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $100,000+(depending on experience)

ABR Employment Services is partnering with a reputable Manitowoc-area manufacturer to hire an Electrical Controls Engineer. If you enjoy building practical solutions, improving how equipment runs, and being the go-to person for controls projects and troubleshooting, this could be a great fit.

You’ll play a key role in designing and supporting automated control systems—working with both software and hardware—and collaborating with teams across the facility to keep equipment running safely and reliably.

What you’ll be doing

• Design and develop electrical control systems (hardware + software) to support automated equipment and industrial processes
• Program and maintain PLC and HMI applications
• Specify and purchase controls hardware (PLCs, HMIs, sensors, motors, pumps, safety devices, etc.)
• Support testing/commissioning to ensure systems run reliably and safely
• Troubleshoot controls issues and provide ongoing support for equipment on the floor
• Create and maintain documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, configuration/operational data)
• Contribute to continuous improvement—evaluating new technologies and helping set standards for drawings/documentation
• Partner with cross-functional teams (manufacturing/service/sales as needed) to support projects and production

Required qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical/controls engineering experience (industrial/manufacturing environment)
• Experience supporting industrial processes and automated systems
• Working knowledge of:
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • PLCs (Allen-Bradley or similar) and data acquisition hardware/software
  • HMIs, robots, and SCADA systems
  • Communication protocols including Ethernet and Modbus
• Education:
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering, or
  • Associate’s in a related engineering field with 5+ years of relevant experience

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with UL/CSA/ESA/CE standards
• Strong communication and documentation skills with attention to detail
• Comfortable being hands-on and partnering with plant teams/assemblers when needed

Work environment

This is an on-site role in an industrial/manufacturing setting and will include time in the facility supporting equipment and projects.
