Electrical Controls Engineer IIIOn-site - Sarasota, FL $120,000-140,000 DOE Summary: primary job function is to plan and design packaging equipment and support devices such as electrical, electromechanical, pneumatic systems, pc hardware, software and write operating programs. The Electrical Controls Engineer III interfaces with other technical specialists and engineers to assure packaging equipment meets the customer’s needs and federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines as required. Reviews technical proposals and quotations. Has direct contact with customers, suppliers and regulatory agencies as deemed necessary to perform the job. Leads major design initiatives in his or her area of expertise. Reports to: Reports directly to the Electrical Engineering Manager. Essential Roles & Responsibilities: Research, design, and evaluate, electrical/electronic equipment, processes and systems applying knowledge of engineering principles. Design from conception to commercialization complex electrical systems, equipment or processesSpecify components or directly modify products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.Program electronic controls; specify components or directly modify designs to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.Provide technical assistance and support to manufacturing, sales, service, or purchasing as directed.Conduct in house QC and checkouts of equipment prior to shipment.Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, process flow diagrams and computer-generated reports.Conduct root cause analysis and implement changes as directed.Trouble shoot performance issues in the field, in conjunction with field service and the customers technical representatives.Work with a minimum of supervision and manage medium to complex level design tasks and projects.Lead several projects and designs at one time.Assure that packaging process and procedures are followed throughout the design phase.Perform all duties of an Electrical Designer as required. Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneQualifications: Mastery of MS Office applications, ERP system, and one of: AutoCAD, Solidworks or equivalent CADD applications. Mastery of RSLogix5, 500 & 5000, (SIEMENS S7 and Modicon), RSView Studio ME/SE, RSView32, Intellution FIX32 & iFIX, Wonderware and/or Panelbuilder. Mastery of motion control applications including experience with at least one of the following brands: Allen Bradley, Siemens or Indromat. Ability to work with industrial networks: i.e. Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, ControlNet and Profibus.Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; 8-15 years at an OEM, bonus if in the packaging industry 3+ years of experience programming and designing electrical control systems for complex automated equipment involving motion 3+ years of experience working on projects building automated equipment in a production environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Physical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
