Job Description
Electrical Engineer
Palmetto Engineering & Consulting
Piedmont, SC
About Us
Palmetto Engineering & Consulting (PEC) is a 160-person, employee-owned (ESOP) engineering consulting firm delivering practical solutions in electrical, telecommunications, and infrastructure design. If you’re coming from a large corporate environment and want less bureaucracy, more ownership, and real impact, this is an opportunity to join a smaller, collaborative team where your work truly matters.

The Role
We’re seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our three-person electrical team. This role is driven by the upcoming retirement of a senior engineer, creating a unique opportunity to step into a high-visibility, high-impact position.
You’ll work on a variety of industrial projects, taking ownership of design, client interaction, and project execution from start to finish.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead our excellent electrical design team by supporting our clients and customers with project concept, scope development, proposal preparation, and coordinating the development of construction documents.
  • Coordinate daily with our well-established professional design partners to provide successful projects.
  • Design electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, and industrial facility systems
  • Develop drawings, specifications, and calculations (one-lines, load studies, etc.)
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations
  • Collaborate with internal teams and work directly with clients
  • Support construction through site visits, RFIs, submittals, and troubleshooting
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience, primarily in industrial electrical design
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and applicable codes
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license or be able to obtain licensure.
Why This Role Stands Out
  • Employee Ownership (ESOP): Share in the company’s long-term success
  • Real Impact: Direct involvement in projects from concept through construction
  • Small Team Environment: No silos—your voice and expertise matter
  • Career Growth: Opportunity to lead the electrical engineering team in the near term, with a clear path to full leadership as part of a planned succession.
  • Established design partners and long-term relationships with industrial clients.
Benefits
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Disability and Life Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Paid Time Off & Holidays
  • Professional Development Support
Join Us
If you’re ready to move away from corporate red tape and into a role where you can own your work, grow your career, and make a real impact, we’d like to hear from you.

PEC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
