Job Overview The Precision Assembler performs complex mechanical and electromechanical assembly for rotary air compressor systems and custom industrial control panels. The role requires solid comprehension of compressor package builds, low voltage control wiring, and strict adherence to manufacturing, quality, and EHS standards in a fast paced environment. Responsibilities Assemble rotary screw compressor packages, including airends, drive systems, inlet/discharge piping, coolers, filtration, and related sub assemblies. Install and align couplings, belts, sheaves, motors, gear drives, and mounting hardware using dial indicators, torque wrenches, and feeler gauges. Route and secure hard lines, hoses, coolant lines, and pneumatic tubing per engineering specifications. Perform torque controlled fastening to OEM specifications and verify leak integrity of assembled components. Interpret compressor assembly drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and BOMs to ensure build accuracy. Perform point to point wiring for 12V/24V control circuits and compressor instrumentation. Build and populate electrical enclosures with breakers, fuses, contactors, relays, power supplies, motor starters, PLC I/O, VFDs, and soft?starters. Route, terminate, and label conductors in accordance with UL 508A panel building practices or company standards. Install sensors and wiring for temperature probes, pressure transducers, level switches, solenoid valves, and safety interlocks. Perform continuity, insulation, and functional tests; verify VFD parameters as required. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. 1+ year experience in industrial equipment assembly, preferably compressors, HVAC, pumps, or electromechanical systems. Proficiency in mechanical assembly, precision alignment, low voltage wiring, and panel assembly. Ability to read mechanical prints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams; follow standard work instructions. Proficient with torque tools, hoists, pneumatic tools, crimping equipment, and test instruments (multimeters, megohmmeters). Working knowledge of industrial safety, LOTO, and rotating equipment best practices. Stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. Lift up to 35 lbs routinely; use hoists for heavier assemblies. Work near rotating equipment, oils, coolants, and standard industrial noise levels (typically 75–87 dBA). Operate within a high mix, build to order production environment with strict adherence to schedule and quality. Preferences Technical or trade school certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Electrical Technology. 2+ years’ experience in compressor, pump, blower, or industrial equipment assembly. Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements This position will be based at our site in Mocksville, NC, with no anticipated travel.
