Position Summary

The Electrical Project Manager oversees all phases of electrical construction projects—from bidding, planning, procurement, field execution, to closeout. This role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, with high safety and quality standards, and maintains strong client relationships to support future business.

 

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

  • Develop project budgets, manpower loading plans, and baseline schedules.
  • Review drawings, specs, RFIs, addenda, bulletins, and change orders.
  • Plan material submittals, equipment procurement, and long-lead tracking.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and inspectors.
  • Ensure AHJ code compliance (NEC and local/state codes).

Field Management

  • Support and direct Superintendent/Foreman to maintain productivity.
  • Manage labor cost codes and weekly job cost reports.
  • Conduct regular site walks and progress meetings.
  • Maintain safety compliance (OSHA standards, toolbox talks).

Quality and Documentation

  • Ensure proper installation methods and correct QA/QC workflows.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, as-built drawings, and commissioning procedures.
  • Track and record field changes for potential change orders.

Cost & Financial Management

  • Monitor job cost performance, committed costs, purchase orders, equipment rentals.
  • Approve invoices, timesheets, and cost code allocation.
  • Prepare monthly progress billing and retainage tracking.
  • Forecast profit fade/gain and provide reporting to leadership.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as primary point of contact for GC and owner reps.
  • Provide proactive communication—schedule impacts, risks, solutions.
  • Represent company at OAC and coordination meetings.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 5–10 years' experience in electrical construction with at least 2 years in management.
  • Proficient reading electrical plans, specs, distribution/riser drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, commercial power systems, fire alarm, low voltage.
  • Ability to use project software (Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, MS Project/Primavera).
  • OSHA 30 preferred.

 

Desired Skills

  • Strong leadership and conflict resolution skills.
  • Estimating background (change orders, takeoff support).
  • Experience with hotels, multi-unit apartments, healthcare, offices, or similar projects.
  • Understanding of prefabrication and productivity tracking systems.

 

Performance Metrics

  • Project executed within budget and schedule
  • Labor productivity (earned vs. spent hours)
  • Safety KPIs (zero recordables)
  • Client satisfaction and repeat work
  • Accuracy of reporting and documentation
