Job Summary/Basic Function:
Perform skilled journey-level electrical repair and installation work on assigned projects and at assigned job locations, under the supervision of the Director and the lead Electrician.
  • Alter, maintain, repair or install wiring, cables, switches, controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, instrument panels, distribution panels, buzzer and bell circuits, power circuits and communications circuits; may construct new facilities from blueprints and specifications;
  • Modify, adjust, maintain, repair or install electric motors, electrical equipment, instruments such as pumps, clocks, lamps, stoves, electrical meters, timers, fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, power tools and motors;
  • Replace and reseat brushes; replace worn out bearings and other motor and generator parts;
  • Inspect electrical systems, communications systems and equipment to detect and correct faulty components or parts;
  • Inspect and maintain high voltage power transmission systems including wires, poles, transformers;
  • Perform alterations, adjustment, modification, repair and installation of electrical equipment systems;
  • Develop preliminary cost estimates for installations and repairs;
  • Drive college vehicles as required; load and unload materials and supplies;
  • Perform related duties as required. May perform work in other trades.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or higher qualification
  • Current valid Washington State general or specialty Electrician license/certificate
  • Three or more years of related commercial electrician work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Working knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment of the electrician trades and standard safety precautions
  • Ability to work from blueprints, plans and sketches to estimate material and time required for job completion
  • Ability to use and maintain required hand and power tools
  • Possession of a valid drivers license
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
