General Information:

James Madison University's Facilities Management is currently seeking an Electrician Sr. This position will perform technically difficult and routine installation, repair, maintenance, and service of electrical equipment in University-owned buildings and other areas.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

Diagnose problems, repair, and maintain a wide variety of electrical equipment including food service, laboratory, and card access systems.

Install new equipment, including complete electrical circuits to the equipment.

Responsible for final inspection and proper operation of all new installations.

Plan workloads based on priorities.

Coordinate with other shops and departments to ensure customer satisfaction.

Provide accurate and timely reports as needed, order equipment and parts to maintain the supplies to be able to respond to normal and emergency tasks.

Coordinate with contractors and engineering staff in the accomplishment of various electrical projects.

Provide leadership in ensuring that the university's electrical systems are maintained in a manner that promotes the best work/study environment for students, faculty, and staff.


Qualifications:

Required:

Extensive knowledge of electrical equipment and systems, practices, and code compliance.

High degree of advanced electrician skills including the use of hand tools, power tools, conduit benders, meters, testers, recording devices, and circuit tracers.

Ability to read and work from blueprints.

Ability to diagnose service and repair all types of electrical equipment.

Driver's License

MASTELEC- Master Electrician


Conditions of Employment:

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
