The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Electronics Technician 4 at Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC).

Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC) is a 2000+ bed, male facility located approximately 10 miles west of Spokane. The prison consists of a main facility that houses medium- and long-term minimum-custody incarcerated individuals (I/I). A separate perimeter adjacent to the main facility accommodates a minimum-security unit for I/I with minimum-custody or lower.

The Department of Corrections (DOC), as a partner in the criminal justice system, enhances public safety, administers criminal sanctions and programs in accordance with the law and provides leadership for the future of corrections in Washington State.

Duties

The mission of the Department of Corrections is to enhance community safety by collaborating with its criminal justice partners, victims, citizens and other stakeholders; administering criminal sanctions and effective correctional programs; and providing leadership for the future.

The Electronics Technician 4 at Airway Heights Correction Center (AHCC) reports to the Electronics Supervisor and installs, maintains, tests and repairs the limited energy electronic systems throughout the institution and instructs personnel in the proper operation and care of that equipment. By providing these technical services to the institution, the Electronics Technician 4 ensures that safety, security, vigilance and communications systems are readily available, and functional, for custody and support staff, and ensures that the safety and security systems for incarcerated individuals (I/I) are properly maintained. The Electronics Technician 4 supports the living conditions at AHCC, the mission of the maintenance department, and provides support for public safety.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Security Electronics Network (SEN).
  • Motorola trunked radio system with mobile and portable radios.
  • Fire Alarm System.
  • Electronic door control and indication.
  • Video security cameras.
  • Intercom System.
  • Security keypad entry system.
  • Perimeter detection system.
  • Data and Telecommunication copper and fiber infrastructure.
  • Cable TV system.
  • Electronics benchwork.
  • Research for new projects and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Order parts and equipment compliant to current industry standards.
  • Document work activities and update schematics and diagrams.
  • Daily review of Perimeter System, Security Cameras and TV channel integrity.
  • Cleaning and replacement of smoke detectors and other devices on the fire alarm system.
  • Maintain essential parts inventory.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Two (2) years college/technical school in Electronics Technology with one year working experience in the repair and installation of: fire alarm systems, security video systems, commercial cable TV, or other security electronics systems.
OR
Three (3) years working experience as an Electronics Technician employed in the repair and installation of: fire alarm systems, security video systems, commercial cable TV, or other security electronics systems.

Additional requirements:
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds and work on overhead equipment.

Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
5 years experience in the installation and maintenance of security electronics systems
EL06 Electrical License
NICET 2 Certification
A+ Certification
