Holy Family School in Auburn seeks a detail oriented and committed General music specialist with vocal/choral and instrumental (keyboard and/or guitar) skills for all grades, starting 2024-25 school year. HFS is a Preschool thru 8th grade Catholic school residing on the grounds of, and fully in partnership with, the Holy Family Parish. We are committed in our mission: Holy Family School, as part of Holy Family Parish community, educates and inspires students to grow in faith, to demonstrate academic excellence, and to model Christian citizenship. The ideal candidate will be an actively-practicing, faith-filled Catholic who possesses a Washington State teaching certification and has teaching experience. Applicants should be interested in working collaboratively as part of a team, a creative thinker, able to differentiate instruction.

Lesson planning and daily instruction in areas of music, instruments, and performance along with preparing and facilitating various programs for the community throughout the year. Tracking student performance and growth to prepare report cards and progress reports. Regular communication to parents about learning and events. Preparing students to lead mass. Work collaboratively with other teachers and administration. Supervision of children at time beyond instruction: ecesses and school-wide gatherings. Model Christian values for the whole community.

: The salary range for this position is from $45,000-$55,000. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicants skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications. This a 0.8 FTE position that is benefits eligible.

: A comprehensive package of benefits is offered including two medical plan options, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays.

Qualifications of the successful candidate will include:

  • Model Christian values aligned with Holy Familys mission statement
  • Demonstrate knowledge of content area
  • Collaborate with the elementary school team
  • Demonstrate a love of young learners and knowledge of best practices
  • Communicate with parents and students about students progress
  • Demonstrate an enthusiasm for personal lifelong learning

Responsibilities

  • Teach a curriculum based on national standards;
  • Plan/execute a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time;
  • Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each student;
  • Utilize repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students;
  • Evaluate/report each students musical growth, performance, and musical understanding;
  • Select appropriate music, books and instructional aids/supplies as necessary;
  • Instruct students in a variety of instruments (recorders, guitars, percussion, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Pastoral Assistant for Music and Liturgy to prepare for the schools liturgical celebrations;
  • Prepare students to sing at school liturgies;
  • Collaborate with the school leadership and teachers in providing musical programs and plays for school assemblies and seasonal programs (list of traditional events will be shared during the interview process).

The music teacher schedule will include general music instruction twice a week for all grades and recess support. If skilled and interested, HFS traditionally offers a band program for our 5th-8th grade. Candidates with liturgical music/performing arts experience is highly desired

Requirements:

The successful candidate may hold or be working toward a current Washington State teaching certificate Bachelors Degree in Education with major or minor of study in Music
