Key job responsibilities Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground terminal systems, focusing on fault‑tolerant, real‑time platforms. Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high‑performance software. Implement and integrate software for data processing, device control, and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP). Debug and resolve complex hardware‑software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless hardware‑software interaction and system reliability. Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold high software quality standards. Export Control This position requires that the candidate selected be a U.S. Citizen in order to comply with U.S. government‑imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed. A day in the life As part of our software engineering team, you will design and implement embedded software used in the Amazon Leo products. You will work in a collaborative environment with teams inside and outside of Amazon. You will craft your software from requirements, designs, code, test, to product deployment. About the team Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) is a multidisciplinary team developing targeted and scalable solutions for custom satellite and ground applications. ALG Device Software focuses on embedded software solutions for custom products supporting U.S. and allied government customers. We collaborate closely with hardware and systems teams to deliver secure, high‑performance solutions for mission‑critical applications. Basic Qualifications 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team Bachelor's degree Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience Master's degree in computer science or equivalent Equal Opportunity Employer Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
