Embedded Software Engineer SAIC is seeking a Software Engineer located at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey supporting U.S. Army's DEVCOM Armament Center to contribute to the next-generation manned and unmanned combat systems by designing, integrating, and testing of software and hardware for direct-fire weapons, artillery, and other robotic armament systems. This role focuses on direct engineering and integration activities rather than program management, offering the opportunity to work with real military hardware and software from various industry partners. NOTE: This position requires approximately 4-8 trips per year, 1 week at a time. (~15-25% travel) JOB DESCRIPTION: Develop, test, and integrate embedded software for robotic and wireless-controlled armament systems using C++ and Python. Conduct hands-on integration of vendor software and internally developed solutions onto tactical hardware platforms. Collaborate with vendors and program stakeholders to architect and refine solutions for next-generation manned and unmanned systems. Perform system-level testing and diagnostics in a lab environment, utilizing tools such as Wireshark for network analysis. Use and maintain version control repositories (Git) for source code and project documentation. Support field testing, system demonstrations, and user feedback sessions. Qualifications REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's and five (5)+ years of related experience; additional four (4) years of experience considered in lieu of degree. Experience in embedded programming with strong proficiency in C++ and Python. Useful but not required skills: Networking knowledge, Linux experience, QT, UDP/TCP/GRPC communication, wireshark diagnostics and scripting automation. REQUIRED CLEARANCE: Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance, no clearance required prior to hire; SAIC will help to obtain. Must be a current U.S. citizen. Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
