Embedded Software Engineer (Battery Systems) Location: Greater Houston, TX (Onsite) Industry: Advanced battery systems, aerospace/eVTOL, drones, energy storage About the Opportunity A leading Texas-based innovator in lithium‑ion battery systems and thermal management is expanding its engineering team. We’re hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to help develop firmware for their next‑generation Battery Management Systems (BMS) and related electronics used across aerospace, defence, UAV/drone, and industrial platforms. This is a hands‑on role in a modern facility, collaborating with electrical and mechanical teams to ship safe, reliable, high‑performance battery solutions. What You’ll Do Design, implement, and optimise embedded firmware (C/C++, RTOS) for BMS and power electronics. Develop algorithms for SoC/SoH estimation, balancing, fault detection, diagnostics, and safety interlocks . Integrate with hardware ( CAN/CANbus, SPI, I²C, UART ) and participate in PCB bring‑up with EE teams. Build automated HIL/SIL test frameworks , unit tests, and support environmental/qualification testing. Profile and debug on target; contribute to DFMEA/DVP&R , release management, and documentation. Collaborate in agile sprints; maintain design artifacts aligned to internal engineering guides. Skills Required BS/MS in Electrical/Computer Engineering (or related). 3–10 years in embedded systems for battery, power electronics, or safety‑critical products. Strong C/C++ , RTOS , and low‑level driver development; familiarity with BMS features and safety states. Experience with CAN/CANbus , diagnostic protocols, and working closely with PCB/EE design . Hands‑on debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analysers, emulators; comfort with lab workflows. Bonus points: aerospace/automotive background; exposure to DO‑160/DO‑254/EMI/EMC , ISO 26262 , or UL 1973/9540A ; thermal management awareness. Why This Role?
