Job Title Job Description Required Education• Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a relevant field.• Years of Experience: 2–4 years of industry experience (experience outside of internships).Disqualifiers / Policies:o No 2-year (Associate) degrees accepted.o Internships do NOT count toward the required years of experience.o A Master's degree does not reduce the 2–4 year experience requirement.Top Three Skills1. Software Development: Strong proficiency in Matlab and Simulink.2. Validation Testing: Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) validation testing.3. Research, design, develop, and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for industrial, communications, and general computing applications.Key Job Responsibilities:• Design and implement software of embedded devices and systems from requirements to production and commercial deployment.• Write and code logical and physical database descriptions; specify identifiers to the management system or direct others in coding descriptions.• Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.• Review project requests describing user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project.• Contribution: Software strategy creation, optimization, and documentation for Caterpillar engine and aftertreatment systems.• Tasks: Engage with software programmers, mechatronics, and validation engineers to solve engine control challenges; develop and document software control strategies for internal customers.• Team Structure: Part of a 15-person team divided into engine subsystem ownership. You will be partnered with a mentor during the onboarding ramp-up period.• Interaction: Engine lab development activities, in-person meetings, and team huddles.• Environment: 90% office-based (for software development). Occasional work in soft labs (development benches) and engine test labs (requires PPE: safety glasses and boots).
