They develop dual-use solutions for inspection and defence, focusing here on advanced UAV situational awareness for military applications. Their systems are designed to work with low-cost, widely available sensors and compute, laying the groundwork for a connected suite of solutions that enhance European safety.Their growing team is a mix of engineers from Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computational Science, and Computer Graphics, driven by a passion for cutting-edge technology. They collaborate with government agencies, prime contractors, research institutes, and other start-ups.Your RoleAs a Forward Deployed System Integration Engineer, you will bring our autonomy software to life on real UAV platforms, from agile FPV drones to larger fixed-wing aircraft. You will work hands-on with hardware, integrate software systems, and ensure reliable field deployment.This is a field-focused role for someone who loves making complex systems work, solving problems on-site, and bridging the gap between autonomy algorithms and aircraft hardware. You will report within the engineering track (L1–L3), with clear growth opportunities as you demonstrate impact and ownership.Key Responsibilities:Deploy and integrate full-stack autonomy solutions on diverse UAV platforms.Assemble, wire, debug, and prepare drones for operational testing.Travel to partner sites across the EU for on-site deployment and testing.Collaborate closely with partner engineering teams during integration.Provide actionable feedback to the product team from field tests.Improve interfaces between autonomy algorithms and flight controllers.What We’re Looking ForStrong Linux skills: terminal-based workflows, shell scripting, debugging, and system-level problem solving.Hands-on experience with UAV hardware and components (batteries, electronics, flight controllers such as Ardupilot or PX4).Practical experience in building, flying, and troubleshooting drones.Ability to learn quickly, adapt under pressure, and work independently.EU travelFull-time availability (40 hours/week).Bonus Skills:Passion for drones and UAV technology.Experience with Docker, Python, or C++.Valid Category B driver’s license.Drone pilot license or willingness to obtain one.What We OfferCompetitive salary and benefits.25 vacation days per year.Reimbursed travel expenses and company laptop.Flexible working hours, including 2 days/week remote work when not on-site.Work in a world-class, international engineering team.Ownership of your projects and solutions.Freedom to experiment, take technical risks, and implement solutions5V Tech are acting as an Employment Agency for the purposes of this job vacancy.
