GD Resources LLC is a federal government contractor dedicated to providing highly qualified healthcare professionals and operational support services to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and other federal agencies. We are seeking experienced Board Certified or Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians to provide comprehensive emergency medical care at the VA Central California Health Care System in Fresno, California.
This position offers an opportunity to serve our nation's Veterans in a fast-paced, mission-driven emergency department while working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Position SummaryThe Emergency Medicine Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive emergency medical care to Veterans presenting with acute illnesses, traumatic injuries, and life-threatening medical conditions. Physicians will evaluate, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients in accordance with the standards established by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM), Veterans Health Administration (VHA) policies, and accepted evidence-based medical practice.
The selected physician will deliver high-quality emergency care while supporting a 24-hour Emergency Department that operates 365 days per year.
Key Responsibilities Emergency Department Clinical Care- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with emergency and urgent medical conditions.
- Perform rapid assessment, stabilization, and management of critically ill and injured patients.
- Provide emergency medical treatment for adult patients with acute illnesses and traumatic injuries.
- Perform emergency procedures within granted clinical privileges.
- Manage cardiac, respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, infectious disease, and multisystem emergencies.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, and specialty consultations.
- Provide timely patient evaluations consistent with VA emergency department performance standards.
- Obtain medical histories and perform focused physical examinations.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory, radiology, ECG, and diagnostic studies.
- Develop evidence-based treatment plans.
- Perform emergency resuscitation and advanced life support interventions.
- Provide medication management and emergency therapeutic interventions.
- Coordinate continuity of care with inpatient and outpatient providers.
Physicians may perform procedures including:
- Advanced airway management
- Endotracheal intubation
- Central venous catheter placement
- Arterial line placement
- Cardioversion and defibrillation
- Procedural sedation
- Laceration repair
- Fracture and dislocation management
- Abscess incision and drainage
- Emergency wound management
- Other emergency procedures within clinical privileges
- Maintain accurate electronic medical documentation using VA-approved Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Complete emergency department notes, consultation reports, discharge documentation, and procedure notes.
- Ensure timely documentation supporting patient care and regulatory compliance.
- Work closely with nurses, specialists, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff.
- Coordinate emergency patient care across multiple clinical services.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Candidates must possess:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in:
- Emergency Medicine, or
- Internal Medicine.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association).
- Current DEA Registration.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Eligibility for VA credentialing and privileging.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
- Veterans Affairs Medical Centers
- Level I or Level II Trauma Centers
- Academic Medical Centers
- High-volume Emergency Departments
- Federal healthcare systems
- CPRS or Oracle Health (Cerner) Electronic Health Records
- Emergency Department Information System (EDIS)
Selected physicians must provide:
- Current unrestricted medical license.
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility documentation.
- Current DEA Registration.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) documentation.
- Professional education and training verification.
- Credentialing and privileging documentation.
Prior to assignment, physicians must provide documentation demonstrating compliance with VA occupational health requirements, including:
- Tuberculosis (TST or IGRA) screening.
- MMR immunity.
- Varicella immunity.
- Tdap vaccination.
- Annual Influenza vaccination.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or approved exemption.
- Bloodborne Pathogen Training.
- Infection Control compliance.
Selected physicians must successfully complete required VA onboarding and annual mandatory training, including:

- CPRS or Federal EHR Training

- Government Ethics

- Additional facility-specific mandatory training
The VA Emergency Department operates:
- 24 hours per day
- 7 days per week
- 365 days per year
Physicians may be scheduled for:
- 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- 8:00 AM 8:00 PM
- 9:00 AM 9:00 PM
- 10:00 AM 10:00 PM
- 10:00 AM 6:00 PM
- 12:00 PM 10:00 PM
- 2:00 PM 10:00 PM
Coverage includes nights, weekends, and federal holidays as required.
Contractors must maintain uninterrupted physician coverage. At least one qualified Emergency Medicine Physician must be physically present in the Emergency Department at all times.
