ABOUT AGAPE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Agape Presbyterian Church, a PCUSA church in San Ramon, CA (approximately 35 miles from San Francisco in the East Bay), is seeking full-time English Ministry (EM) Pastor who has a passion to spiritually guide and lead the Youth Group and EM congregations. Our church is predominantly Asian American; however, we strive to be a church that reflects our community of different races and ethnicities while having two distinct congregations, a Korean speaking congregation and an English speaking one. The primary responsibility of the EM/Youth pastor will be to grow and lead the EM/Youth. It is also expected that the EM/Youth Pastor will work collaboratively with children’s and Korean Ministry pastors to contribute to the success of all our ministries.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The EM/Youth Pastor will be an articulate advocate and communicator for the vision of God’s church for the Glory of God. This person will be the primary leader, teacher, and visionary and will have a broad responsibility for the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the EM/Youth in all areas including discipleship, preaching, and equipping the congregation for service. Agape’s EM/Youth Pastor will work closely with the other ministries to ensure the health and growth of the entire church.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Preach in EM and youth groups and participate in Sunday fellowship and mid-week activities (Friday service, bible study, etc.)

• Spiritual encourage and support leaders, teachers, and volunteers to build effective Christ-center community.

• Be accountable to the Senior Pastor of Agape Presbyterian Church and serve faithfully with the EM and Youth leadership team, deacons, elders of the church.

• Develop long-term goals that align with the needs of building the youth and EM programs.

• Select and implement curriculum for Bible studies for EM and youth groups.

• Select and implement curriculum for teachers/leaders training.

• Plan and execute programs that promote the spiritual growth of EM and Youth and impact the Kingdom of God, including retreats, revivals, community outreach programs, mission trips.

• Build and maintain healthy relationships with the Children Ministry (~20 children) in a collaborative manner.

• Perform other pastoral duties as needed (visitation, counseling, etc.)

• Flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and adopt to rapidly changing needs of the church.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE EM/YOUTH PASTOR

· A believer and disciple of Jesus Christ with upstanding character to lead, teach, and be an example of the character of Christ. (1 Timothy 3)

• Ability to handle the Word of God correctly, with gospel-focused and expository preaching, and teaching to equip the congregation to become mature disciples of Jesus.

• Graduated from or currently enrolled in an accredited seminary

• Commitment to Agape Church’s vision and mission

• Pastoral ministry experience

• Ability to communicate with pastors and senior church leadership

· Prior ordination

· Experience working with a multicultural and multilingual congregation

· Two+ years of experience in a pastoral ministry setting

· Bilingual in Korean

Required Credentials

· Resume with Statement of Faith (Please include a picture of yourself or family)

· Testimony (Family, background, ministry experiences)

· Two samples of English sermon to youth and adults (YouTube links or MP4 format preferred)

· Two letters of recommendation (from a supervising pastor or church leader)

COMPENSATION

Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits negotiable. A ministry fund is provided for conferences, seminars, educational leave, and mileage reimbursement.
