About the role

DNV Energy Systems business area is seeking a qualified Associate Project Manager (APM) to be focused on energy storage and hybrid (renewable plus storage) systems. The primary functions of these positions include supporting major customer accounts, supporting project due diligence, assisting in or managing projects, contributing to process improvements, sharing knowledge, obtaining and receiving feedback, and a bit of business development including developing proposals.

This position can be based in any of our U.S. markets to include San Diego, Oakland, Chalfont, Portland, Seattle, Medford, Austin, Dallas, Houston and New York City. Remote locations may be considered.

What You ll Do

  • Assist with the coordination of the technical review process among internal specialists including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology, and permitting teams, and synthesizing and writing due diligence reports
  • Support overall project management activities and ensure excellent customer communication
  • Perform portions of due diligence reviews, including contract and financial model reviews, and synthesis of inputs from technical disciplines, as well as other reviews and analysis within your expertise
  • Assist with the resolution of technical issues with project developers, lenders, and investors, including coordinating input on such issues from internal technical specialists
  • Assist with developing and winning proposals for scopes of services related to due diligence work
  • Coordinate or perform DNV construction monitoring and site visit activities
  • Support the Project Management team and customers through the financial closings of projects
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts including leading tool development, process refinement, digitization efforts, and lessons learned activities
  • Have a goal of managing small projects within 6 to 18 months of start date

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the states of Colorado, New York City, NY, California, Washington, and Connecticut only, the range of starting pay for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 USD.

  • Bachelor s degree in an engineering, science, business, energy, or other related field is required
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and deft project and time management skills, including an ability to balance multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Fluent in MS Office
  • Solution oriented thinking skills and high integrity
  • Familiar with energy storage industry technology
  • Supportive and proactive team member, eager to work in a collaborative environment
  • Proven HSE mindset and demonstrated behavior-based safety mentality
  • We conduct pre-employment background checks and drug screenings

What is Preferred

  • Master s degree
  • While this is an early career position and prior experience is not required, storage industry experience will be viewed positively, particularly a working understanding of storage technologies, business models, and cursory knowledge of battery degradation
  • Exposure to contracts (construction, supply, operations, interconnection, offtake, subscription, and/or asset management contracts)
  • Familiarity with budgets and financial models
  • Working knowledge of storage business models
