OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Develops new products and optimizes existing products.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION – DEPARTMENT:
- Support of R&D production trials, which includes preparation of trial documentation, attendance, and sample collection, labeling, and storage.
- Perform design of experiments (DOE). Propose and execute experiment plans. Analyze and report laboratory and production data in support of projects.
- Preparation of test samples from R&D production trials, which includes slitting and joining for tensile testing and wear and tear fatigue testing.
- Lab testing, which includes melt flow, tensile strength, wear and tear, coefficient of friction, abrasion, dimensional measurements … etc.
- Support manufacturing team with process improvement and troubleshooting projects.
- Lead raw material qualification projects in collaboration with supply chain and manufacturing teams.
- Maintenance and upkeep of lab equipment, accessories, and supplies.
- Maintaining R&D inventory of production prototypes and shipping out of customer prepared samples for evaluation and field testing.
- Prepare project updates and technical reports for supervisor outlining progress and next steps.
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Required – Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, or related field.
- Required – 3 to 7 years experience in research and development, application engineering, or process engineering
- Required – Read, Write and Comprehend English.
- Preferred – R&D laboratory experience including polymer products testing, mixing of rubber or plastic materials.
- Preferred – Statistical process control (SPC) experience or training.
- Preferred – Mechanical or chemical engineering background.
- Preferred - understanding of MRP systems.
