Position Summary The Engineer supports the design, development, and implementation of building automation, mechanical, and electrical control systems. This position assists with technical drawing development, system programming, documentation, and coordination with project teams. The Engineer plays a key role in ensuring that engineering tasks are executed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with NRG Controls’ quality standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist in the design and development of mechanical, electrical, and building automation control systems. Prepare control diagrams, wiring drawings, and technical documentation. Support programming, configuration, and testing of BAS and control systems. Perform system calculations, equipment selections, and engineering analyses as assigned. Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other engineers to support project execution. Review submittals, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and compliance. Assist in troubleshooting technical issues during installation and commissioning. Participate in project meetings and provide engineering input as needed. Maintain organized documentation, drawings, and engineering files. Ensure work complies with industry standards, codes, and company processes. Support continuous improvement of engineering methods and processes. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field. Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electrical theory, or building automation concepts. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications. Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drafting software. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications Experience with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, Distech, Siemens, or Johnson Controls. Familiarity with HVAC systems, equipment, and control sequences. Knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks communication protocols. Experience in commercial construction or engineering environments. EIT certification or progress toward Professional Engineer (PE) licensure. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Strong technical aptitude and detail‑oriented work style. Ability to coordinate engineering tasks with multiple project stakeholders. Excellent organizational and documentation skills. Professional communication skills with internal teams and clients. Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional visits to job sites.
