Position Summary
The Engineering Assistant II supports the engineering management team by providing administrative, coordination, and analytical support to ensure engineering projects are executed efficiently and on schedule. This role plays a key part in project coordination, documentation control, communication, and reporting across engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment while supporting multiple projects and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Documentation
- Assist in creating, organizing, and maintaining project documentation, including:
- Engineering plans
- Project schedules
- Budgets
- Reports and supporting materials
- Ensure all engineering-related documentation is accurate, current, and accessible to project teams
- Support document control and version management for engineering deliverables
Communication & Coordination
- Facilitate communication among engineering teams, project stakeholders, and contractors
- Prepare and distribute engineering communications, including:
- Meeting agendas
- Meeting minutes
- Status updates and reports
- Assist in scheduling meetings, site visits, and project-related events
Project & Financial Support
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support timely completion of engineering milestones
- Assist with monitoring project budgets and expenses
- Support preparation of financial reports, forecasts, and cost tracking documentation
Data & Reporting
- Collect and analyze project data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Prepare summary reports and recommendations based on data analysis
- Support engineering leadership with insights to improve project execution and efficiency
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Engineering degree preferred
- 5 10 years of experience supporting engineering teams, projects, or operations
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with project management software and basic data analysis tools
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- General understanding of engineering activities, workflows, and project lifecycles
- Ability to build effective working relationships with:
- Plant staff
- Design engineering teams
- Vendors and contractors
