PAY GRADE: $22.00 - $27.00/HR EXPERIENCE LEVEL

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under the mentorship of experienced field personnel and project managers, this Field Engineer Intern position will provide hands-on support on active heavy civil construction projects. Interns fain exposure to core functions including project management, safety, quality control and equipment operations. Working alongside both field and office teams, the intern will develop a practical understanding of how complex civil projects are planned, coordinated, and built. This position may require a varying amount of fieldwork, travel and close coordination with other Tribal 1 offices and trade partners.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Observing and /or interacting with various professionals related to the construction field including owners, architects, subcontractors and vendors.
· Attending staff or departmental meetings on an ongoing basis and any appropriate project-specific or coordination meetings
· Participate in project startup meetings and assist with documentation.
· May Assist in preparation of detailed engineering reports and supporting documents
· Provide administrative support to the project team with development and tracking of various project management communications including inspections, schedules, and meeting agendas/minutes.Project Management: Assist with scheduling, coordination, quantity tracking, etc.
· Safety: Attend/Give Toolbox Talks, participate in safety inspections, and support Safety personnel.
· Quality Control: Learn and participate in the quality control process for various types of professional service and construction projects. Support QA/QC tracking and reporting. Perform testing in the field where practical. Help prepare RFIs and Submittals.
· Plan, coordinate and execute work in a safe, timely, cost effective and compliant manner.
· Other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· Valid driver's license.
physical requirements: - i.e. ability to sit/stand/work in the field for long periods, ability to lift 25+ pounds
· Familiarity with codes and industry standards.
· Third or fourth year student enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
· Strong desire to learn and grow in the construction industry.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Exposure to construction software (i.e. Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam) is a plus.
· Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
